The 607 Adjustable Light

607 ADJUSTABLE LIGHT
A Vitsœ 606 mounted adjustable light.
About
This product is derived from my final major project in my first year of uni. We were tasked with designing a lighting product based off of an existing brand. I choose Vitsœ, as it has an ethos and values that are close to my heart. I started the project with researching the target market with detailed personas and task analysis while also deconstructing the brand and what makes a brand including form, language and materials.
Process
From my research, I was able to derive a specification that dictated the process of the project. I used thumb-nailing to generate ideas which I then refined into 3 concepts. With use of sketch models and CAD I could then refine the 3 concepts with use of more thumb-nailing to produce a final concept.
Refinement
Once the final concept was conceived I refined the design with sketch models to determine the final scales and minor details, respecting Dieter Rams thoroughness. CAD and 3D printing was used for the more difficult to produce components.
FINAL
The final outcome I dubbed the 607 Adjustable Light. Linked with the 606 shelving, this adaptable light can be mounted withing a existing shelving system or mounted individually with a single piece of E track. A ball joint mounted light fixture allows the direction of the light to be adjusted to the users desired position. The arm rotates within the body allowing a larger arch of adjust-ability. The hanging cable with inline switch promotes the honesty a Vitsœ product should embody. The unrestricted the cable can be routed though existing E track or within the E track its self.
